with total
design freedom
Design your own, unique project using Ludwig online configurator and instantly receive drawings, assembly manual, element catalogue, and more.
A kit of all the necessary CNC precut timber elements will be sent to the location where it can be simply assembled into your dream studio/carport/house/shed...
1st PROTOTYPE
June 2024
A garden hut with a size of 2,4 x 3,6 m (2 x 3 modules) was built on a garden in Ljubljana. 172 elements were CNC-cut and delivered to the site. It was assembled by two people in a couple of hours. The heaviest wall panel with dimensions of 220x138x2,7 cm weighs 35 kg. Columns and beams are glued laminated timber, while the panels are three-layer panels with a thickness of 2,7 cm - all from spruce. The whole structure was fastened together with only one type of screw.

In an easy-to-use configurator, you can modify an existing project or design your own from scratch!
All the necessary project documentation (drawings, element catalog, assembly manual, 3D model...) is generated instantly and can be exported for a ridiculously low price.
HOUSE
october 2024
We are currently in the process of obtaining a construction permit for a single-family house in the eastern part of Slovenia. A two-story house with a small addition and separated carport is designed entirely out of Ludwig timber elements. "Bones" of the system can be seen from the inside, with visible CNC-cut timber panels. The covered entrance/terrace indicate the flexibility of the system, while window divisions reveal the underlying grid of 1,2 m.
PATENT
July 2023
13 primary timber elements can be assembled together in infinite ways. The biggest element measures 250x138 cm and weighs around 60 kg. Ludwig houses could therefore be built by three people with no special skills or machinery. Connections are simplified with only one type of screw. The main innovation of the patent is a horizontal slab that has no primary/secondary beams but functions as a composite of smaller timber elements that together form a uniform slab. There is therefore no need for long beams spanning the whole width of the room. The patent was applied in July 2023 and is pending for the duration of one year, until it is approved.
TESTING
January 2023
We first made a scale model in a scale of 1:4 to test all of the details and connections. 13 different timber elements were used, made of beech plywood. The elements were tied together with one screw type.
Once every problem was solved, a structural test of a slab in a scale of 1:1 was done with the help of structural engineers. 1,3 tons of cement bags were put on top of the slab. For every 4 bags (100 kg), the deflection was measured. Results were put in a computer simulation where everything was tested and calculated. Final element dimensions were determined after that.
